About VIRIES
The activities of the Veterinary Interventional Radiology and Interventional Endoscopy Society are based upon the mission statement to advance the art and science of veterinary IR/IE and other image-guided procedures. Some of these activities are listed below.
- Share scientific abstracts including original investigations, retrospective and prospective clinical studies, and unusual cases
- Listen to invited medical doctors speak on their respective specialties
- Discuss diagnosis, management, and advances of veterinary IR/IE and other image-guided procedures.
- Discuss the future development of this sub-specialization in veterinary medicine including development of guidelines for those veterinarians wishing to perform these procedures
- Create consensus statements on behalf of the Society concerning veterinary training or disease-specific grading, complication classifications, outcome measurements, etc.
- Participate in and promote training laboratories to provide veterinarians with opportunities to further develop these advanced techniques
- The encouragement of its members to contribute to continuing education in veterinary IR/IE and to report in high quality veterinary journals.
- Create an opportunity for collaboration among veterinarians performing these procedures by creating cooperative groups to share in multi-institutional research studies to achieve large patient populations rapidly.
- Promote and encourage collaboration between human and veterinary medical fields.
- Develop and maintain VIRIES listserve and website to provide on-line videos, case discussions, webinars, and other resources for veterinarians interested in IR/IE
